Other Developments 


In January 2003, the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Barangay Hall located along C.P. Garcia Avenue was held. In attendance were Congresswoman Nanette Castelo-Daza and the Sangguniang Baranggay. Construction of the building commenced thereafter. Completion was on March 30, 2003.

On June 25, 2003, coinciding with the Barangay Day Celebration, the new Barangay Hall was inaugurated with the City Officials and the Sangguniang Barangay in attendance.

On October 2, 2003, the Q.C. government presented the Barangay UP Campus, with an award on "Best in Fiscal Management" and "Best in Lupon Tagapamayapa".

On October 2, 2004, coinciding with t he 10th Year Barangay Day Celebration in Quezon City, Barangay UP Campus was awarded "Most Active Barangay Nutrition Committee", "Best Barangay in Fiscal Management", "Best Barangay Lupong Tagapamayapa", "Best Barangay Solid Waste Management Practice" and was chosen as the recipient of the "Serbisyong Bayan Gawad Galing Barangay" in District IV. Mayor Feliciano Belmonte distributed to all Barangay one set of Computer (Pentium 4) with an HP Printer.

During ithe Barangay Day Celebration on October 2, 2005, the Barangay UP campus was again awarded the "Best Barangay in Fiscal Management", elevating the Barangay to the Hall of Fame on this category. On the "Best Barangay Exhibit" contest, the Barangay UP Campus placed third.

On October 2, 2006, the Barangay UP Campus was again awarded with the "Outstanding Barangay Lupong Tagapamayapa", "Best Barangay Nutritional Committee", "Best Barangay in Gender Practices and Responsive Governance", and "Best Barangay in the Protection of Women and Children".

On October 2, 2007, on the 13th Year Celebration of the Barangay Day, Barangay UP Campus was again awarded with the "Best Barangay Nutrition Council Committee", "Best Barangay Council for the Protection of Children", and BPSO Executive Officer Jerry S. Jimenez was awarded one of the 10 Outstanding Barangay Public Safety Officer (BPSO).

On October 2, 2008, Punong Barangay Isabelita P. G ravides was awarded the "Best Punong Barangay for the 4th District". And Barangay UP Campus as awarded 3rd placer for the "Best Barangay Council for the Protection of Children" and "Best Barangay Peace and Order Committee".

On October 12, 2009, on the occassion of the 70th Quezon City Foundation Day and 15th Year Barangay Day Celebration, the Barangay UP Campus was again awarded the "Best Barangay Nutrition Council Committee" and "Best Barangay Council for the Protection of Children".

Katarungang Pambarangay - Has fully integrated the gender intervention program within the Katarungang Pambarangay System of setting disputes, wherein, parties to the case undergo counseling if such cases involves violence against women/children. Barangay UP Campus is one of the first Barangays to implement R.A. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act of 2004. Awarded "Best Lupon Tagapamayapa" by the Q.C. Government on October 2, 2003. The same award was given to the Lupon Tagapamayapa of Barangay UP Campus on October 2 , 2004.

Foundation Day - Every year the Barangay commemorates its existence as an LGU and a community of residents on June 25. In observance of the said anniversary, the Barangay celebrates with a thanksgiving mass that is usually followed by a program presented by the members of the structure. On June 2005, during the observance of the Barangay's 30th Anniversary of its foundation, the activities started with the distribution of school materials for 200 Grade 1 students under the Alay Eskuwela program. Medical/Dental and Optical missions sponsored by Local Government Officials were held. Culminting 2005;s celebration is a cultural program presented by the Barangay's different structures with no less than the City Mayor, Hon. Feliciano R. Belmonte, Jr., in attendance with some City Councilors and the Sangguniang Barangay.

2007's 32nd Anniversary/Foundation Day Celebration started with a thanksgiving mass followed by the customary breakfast and lunch with the City Officials. A week-long series of activities which included a medical mission and livelihood seminars were also held.

As part of the Barangay's "Lakbay-Aral Program", a Team Building Seminr is given to all members of the Barangay Structure. This aims to cultivate camaraderie  among the members of the structure for a more conducive working environment, and instill efficiency among the employees. In 2004, the seminar was held at the Monte Vista Hotspring and Conference Resort, Pansol, Calamba, Laguna, focusing on the "Seven Habits of Effective Public Servants". In April 2005, as a continuation of 2004's theme, the seminar, "The 8th Habit-From Effectiveness to Greatness", was held at the Loreland Farm Resort, Antipolo City on April 7-8 2005. These seminars with Fr. Joel Eslabra, of the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, as facilitator, aims to make the members of the structure effective public servants.

Other progams for the year 2006: The Sangguniang Barangay recognizes the need to promote health awareness among its constituents. Together with the Department of Health, Botika ng Barangay located at the FCHC building is now in operation, where the Sangguniang Barangay endeavors the selling of quality medicinesat a fair and reasonable price and to ensure the supply of these medicines for the elderly and the underprivileged constituents of the barangay. An award was conferred to the barangay for being the "2nd Best Botika ng Barangay" in Quezon City.

Also part of the Barangay's improvement of its educational facilities, the purchase of 10 computer units through the funding of Senator Francis Pangilinan nwas made possible. These are for the use of the youth and the unemployed for the Barangay's Computer Literacy Program. A Computer Room was build for this purpose which aims to educate and give them easy access to modern means of technology. A trainer teaches out-of-school youth the use of computers. As a continuing effort to educate the community, Councilor Bernadette Herrera-Dy and the Sangguniang Barangay inaugurated the  Computer Learning Center which offers a month-long course on Computer Literacy and Desktop Publishing.

Barangay Assemblies are held twice a year, where the Sangguniang Barangay reports its activities and finances as well as problems affecting the barangay. Barangay assemblies are held with the Sanggunian, the barangay structure and members of the community in attendance.

2009-2010. Through the initiative of the Punong Barangay Isabelita P. Gravides, requests for asphalting of roads within the University Campus have been implemented with the help of the City Government. Street Lighting is also a priority project for a well-lighted and secure community. AAlso, the concreting of Pook Amorsolo Streets have been completed.

The Barangay Legislative Building, funded by Councilor Atty. Edcel B. Lagman, Jr. was build and inaugurated for the use of the Sangguniang Barangay in its regular sessions and other legislative functions. The Legislative Building now houses the Barangay Reading Center.

Several barangay structures have also undergone renovations and improvements such as the Learning Centers at Pook Daantubo and Pook Libis; Familiy and Community Healing Center (FCHC) and Barangay Public Safety Officers' (BPSO) Headquarters; Pook Amorsolo Covered Court and the Barangay Health Station. The continuous improvements of these structures are done for a better and quality service to its community.

The continuous efforts of the Sangguniang Barangay for a safe, clean and dengue-free community has been given priority:

  • The Barangay Public Safety Officers' (BPSO) work on a 4-shift duty rotation with roving schedules to ensure peace and order. They are always ready to take calls for assistance.
  • A Barangay Satellite Office was put up at Pook Dagohoy manned by BPSOs, BHWs, BCPC, FCHC personnels for immediate assistance.
  • Traffic Enforcers are at hand to assist motorists and pedestrians especially school children during peak hours.
  • The Segregation Center personnel conduct clean-up drives and ensures proper waste disposal in accordance with environmental laws.
  • The Dog Catchers continue to go around the residential areas catching stray animals especially dogs in compliance with the City Ordinance prohibiting stray dogs from roaming the streets.
